Are All Sleeping Pills Addictive? - August 6th, 2010

The biggest worry for me when I started taking sleeping pills was becoming dependent on them. I have never been addicted to anything before, and I hope never to be. But it’s something to worry about. After all, what happens if you somehow lose them or don’t have them and you need to sleep. If you need sleeping pills, your REM cycles will be constantly screwed up, and of course, there are also the withdrawal symptoms. So I looked at Ambien, because they said it was non addictive. But with all of the scary and embarrassing side effects of that, I would take the risk of addiction. I used a number of other prescription sleeping pills. But I always seemed to wake up more groggy than I started out.

That’s when I turned to natural sleeping pills. What I found is that for starters, they are not addictive at all! I was able to go on and off when I went on vacations, lost the pills, or otherwise needed to cycle on and off. And the natural sleeping pills I used also had no side effects, at least not any that I happened to notice. When it came to these sleeping pills, I was able to get shut eye, and I wake up feeling refreshed and ready to face the day every morning.

After about a month of using the right sleeping pills, some people will be able to get off of them. One of my cousins stopped using the same natural sleeping pills after about 2 weeks, and she was able to go back to normal sleep patterns. Now she only uses them when she goes on a plane to avoid jet lag or something like that. But there are other instances where natural sleep aids can be used for long term use. Sometimes, it’s not a temporary problem, and it’s nice to have the peace of mind of knowing that you have options.
